Redecorate the House for Spring

A change of seasons is the perfect excuse to redecorate. As neighborhood trees gain leaves and temperatures climb, why not mimic those changes in the garden with modifications inside the home? It’s a chance to celebrate the end of winter and the concurrent start of spring, and an opportunity to mark new beginnings. This fresh start in redecorating can be carried out in a number of ways, and involve anything from a few indoor statues to a major make-over of every room in the home.

Before getting started with redecorating for spring, it’s worth it to take a walk through the home and think about the winter decor that can be put back into storage, and the extent to which we would like to modify the home. If we don’t feel anything good about the look of a certain room or hallway, we might want to go as far as changing the color of the room in addition to replacing the decor. More commonly, we notice a need for a few small changes here and there, and can make those happen with a variety of unique, high quality items.

We can also redecorate to match the change in garden decor. As we inaugurate a new backyard with classic outdoor garden water fountains and beautiful angel statues, we can also decorate the living room with angel-themed wall decor, and a cute animal statue or two. Angel decor for the interior of the home can take the form of items like the classy Guiding Angel Sculptural Wall Frieze by artist Ellen Mary Rope (1855-1934), and functional, elegant decor like the Brixton Abbey Angel Wall Sculpture.  These and other angelic sculptures and decorations lend a blend of class and peaceful elegance to any room, and many such items can also be admired on garden walls or on the back porch during the summer months.

Speaking of wall decor in general, the texture and storied appearance of a high quality frieze can lend a breath of fresh air to any room and augment its atmosphere. It’s also another easy way to give a home or place of business a touch of elegant class, and thus impress guests and clients.

Colorful decor also works well when we want to influence the atmosphere of the home interior, especially at the start of spring. Just as tulips and other flowers begin to peek out of the ground, and color comes back into the garden, we can match that natural palette with beautiful stained glass decor. The Fruit of the Vine Stained Glass Window and other, similar, high quality stained glass items glow with rich, cheerful hues when placed in a window. For this reason, they act as an easy way to give the home a beautiful touch at any time of the year although spring might be the most suitable month to enjoy their bright fresh colors.

In keeping with cheerful, fun decor, spring is also the perfect season to decorate with good-natured items like the Hog Heaven Twinkle Toe Pig Statue. The small size, colors, and details of this happy, dancing pig make it an ideal addition to a living room, mantel, or dining table. This and other happy decor also work well at the beginning of spring because they can match our relief that winter is finally over. As with any humorous decor, dancing pig statues and similar, creative, unique interior decor will also put a smile on the face of every guest and act as a conversation piece.

Early Spring is in the Air

Mid-February can be a time for Valentine’s Day dinner dates, a time to enjoy cross country skiing, or days to plan a spring garden. Depending on where someone lives, it can also mark a time when we feel the first warm breezes of spring. While folks living in the north still need to shovel snow and drink hot chocolate while watching winter birds in the backyard, a lot of people living further south might already be enjoying a warm day or two. They are feeling the change in the weather and some of the early spring birds have already come back.

When we hear the songs of robins and mockingbirds in the garden, we know that winter is finally giving way to spring. Soon, the snow will melt, the frozen ground will soften and show fresh green grass, and we can venture back outside. In a short matter of time, we can enjoy the renewed beauty of the backyard once more, and get our favorite garden decor out of storage and back into action.

Regarding decor, the new season also acts as a perfect excuse to shop for new garden sculptures, angel statues, garden gnomes, and other items destined for the garden. Whether spring is already happening, or is on its way, now is the best time to begin new plans for the backyard. Start the planning now and we will still have plenty of time to figure out exactly how we would like to decorate the backyard and save money doing it. Wait for a month and we might miss sales on unique garden statuary, resort to using the statues we already have, or regret how we end up decorating the backyard.

There are too many ideas to mention in just one post but we can start with a few suggestions for garden fairies. Whether some of these exquisite statues are already in storage or have never seen the light of the backyard, spring is the best opportunity to buy another sculpture or two of the wee folk. Since spring is a time for renewal, the fresh, new look of beautiful fairies helps them fit right in with our first annual display of garden decor. Lovely sculptures like the Poppy and Meadow the Windforest Fairies Statue Collection: Set of Two are ideal for showing this fresh, new cheerful look. They might work best when placed near equally beautiful, fresh spring flowers and other exquisite garden fairy statues.

Cheerful gnome statues are another good choice for spring because they sport bright colors and lend personality to a “new” garden. In addition to classic, smiling gnomes, it’s also fun to decorate with unique “action” gnome statues like the Nuttin But Net Gnome Statue, and the Hawaiian Hank Grass Skirt Gnome Statue. In a few months, these gnome sculptures can also act as fun conversation pieces during summer garden parties.

New animal garden statues are another good option for spring. The ones we choose depend on how we want to decorate the new garden and can take the form of detailed, realistic sculptures of wild animals to funny and cute animal statues like Buckets the Garden Frog Statue and the Monkey Mantra Zen Animal Statue.

While picking out new garden decor, it would also be a shame to neglect a few new decor items for the interior of the home. New, colorful furniture like the Staverden Castle Peacock Sculptural Glass-Topped Table, and accents like Faberge-Style enameled eggs are excellent spring additions because they lend a breath of fresh air to the home.

Colorful Decor for a Bright and Beautiful Garden

Summer is a season for the outdoors and enjoying warm, beautiful weather. We can go camping, take road trips to national parks, visit theme parks, and golf every day of the week but few places are better for experiencing the beauty of summer than our own backyards. Walk into the garden and we don’t have to worry about any entrance fees, long drives, lines, or sharing that green space with anyone else. We can take a dip anytime we want, host parties for our favorite set of family and friends, plant herbs and vegetables, and trim the rose bushes however we see fit.

Take a stroll in the backyard and we can also enjoy our own, personal set of animal garden statues and other beautiful garden decor. We don’t need to decorate for anyone other than for ourselves, and summer is the perfect time of the year to lend the backyard a touch of cheer by way of brightly colored, beautiful decor. Garden sculptures painted in bright shades of yellow, blue, and red lend a cheerful look to any garden and remind us that summer is a time for celebration. Try these suggestions to turn a summer garden into a lovely, cheerful place for reflection, relaxation, gardening, and making merry:

Beautiful plantings: No matter which decor we go with, it’s always worth it to start the decorating with a natural touch. Every garden looks better when planted with bright, beautiful flowers, and they complement the artistic beauty of animal sculptures, classic garden statues, and other garden decor with ease. We can plant our own set of flowering plants and bushes, or, if our thumbs aren’t all that green, hire someone to lend a colorful, natural touch to the backyard. Likewise, if the garden is too small for plantings, or doesn’t have enough space for another flowerbed, we can still give it a lovely, natural look with planters, including sculptural ones like the European-Style Metal Window Box.

Gnomes: Angel sculptures and classic garden statues might come to mind when talking about impressive, artistic statuary, but as far as bright colors go, gnome sculptures usually take the cake. Gnomes express their good cheer with hats and clothing painted in bright primary colors like red and blue. They can also wear yellow, or green tunics, but we won’t see many gnomes wearing black, brown, or other somber hues. Put a gnome or two in the backyard for an easy touch of summer cheer.

The welcome sign: A welcome sign is another easy way to decorate the backyard with beautiful, cheerful decor. Since this will also be the first decor item seen by garden guests, it can also be leveraged to make a big first impression. A fun sign like the “Delightful Dancing Ducks” Welcome Sign gives guests a light-hearted “hello”, and lets them know that the garden is a place where they can leave their worries behind. Welcome signs can also take the form of cute signs that feature a litter of puppies, a fun western theme, or, as in the case of the “Gideon, the Garden Gnome” Welcome Sign Statue, can be combined with a gnome theme.

Tropical decor: Tropical-themed statues and sculptures are another easy means of lending the backyard a cheerful, vibrant look. We could go with a statue of a toucan or other exotic bird, a beautiful mermaid that doubles as a sculptural table, or other decor that brings the exciting beauty of the Caribbean into the backyard.

Tips to Save Money on High Quality Interior Decor

When it’s warm outside, it’s good to focus on decorating the garden but, at the same time, we don’t want to ignore the rest of the home. The backyard may be where we spend most of our time during the hot summer months, but at the end of the day, we still sleep indoors. If it’s too hot outside, we might also spend more time in that air-conditioned oasis just to escape the heat. Take the other months of the year into account, and when it comes down to it, we end up spending more time inside the home.

We need to keep this in mind when shopping for decor to spend just as much time looking for indoor statues, beautiful furniture, and accents. After picking out that angel statue for the backyard, or another stunning outdoor garden fountain, take a break from garden statues to browse for interior decor. Just make sure to look in the right places or we might spend more than we would prefer for low quality, mundane items. To save money on beautiful decor for the interior of the home and place of business, try these tips:

Shop with quality in mind: Sure, we can save money on cheap decor at stores that sell a lot of other things but don’t expect that decor to be impressive, highlight the backyard with unique beauty, or last as long as we like. In all likelihood, cheap, average garden sculptures will lend a silly touch to the backyard, make a bad impression, and will probably be thrown away sooner than we expected (because they wear out and/or just look bad). Although high quality statues and decor will cost more, it will also last longer, make the garden look better, entertain guests, and be a better investment.

Look in the Basil Street Gallery: This collection of fine decor showcases a wide variety of statues, wall decor, unique accents, and other items fit for the most distinguished of homes. The only items that make it into the gallery are ones that show fine details, exquisite beauty, and a level of craftsmanship that draws the eye. As far as savings go, this gallery offers some of the best deals on unique interior decor that we will ever find. One fine example of this comes in the form of the Gears of Time Sculptural Wall Clock. This unique clock pays homage to the Steampunk genre by combining sculpted gears and globe with Roman Numerals. The end result is a clock that gives the time and lends a touch of unique fantasy to any room for a low price.

Other high quality bargains are also represented by stunning wall friezes like that of St. Michael the Archangel Sculptural Wall Frieze, and the Le Bouquet Grand Sculptural Wall Frieze, a variety of eye-catching Egyptian sculptures and decor, and hundreds of beautifully detailed items.

Antique replica furniture: Replicas of beautiful 17th century chairs, magnificent mahogany tables, and other beautiful furniture make it possible to decorate the home with stunning, artistic, functional decor without handing over many thousands of dollars at an auction. Buy the breathtaking Carved Rocaille Chair and we can sit in a lovely, hand-crafted mahogany seat for a fraction of what a similar museum piece would cost. The same goes for the magnificent Lord Raffles Grand Hall Lion Leg Coffee Table.

How to See More Hummingbirds with Garden Decor

It’s June and it’s a wonderful time of year to enjoy the outdoors. We take advantage of the warm, summer weather by spending more time in local parks, going camping, and doing other, fun outdoor activities. Although we often take vacations at this time of year, we don’t really need to travel very far to savor these beautiful summer days. All we need to do is step out the back door and we can relax by the pool, work in the garden, host fun, outdoor dinner parties, or just admire the natural and sculpted beauty of backyard garden statuary and decor.

Although we all love a classic angel statue, and beautifully detailed sculptures of deer or other wild animals, the natural, green factor is just as important. Trees, flowering bushes, and other vegetation help turn the garden into a private green oasis, especially when they attract beautiful goldfinches, woodpeckers, robins, and other wild birds. One of the most interesting types of birds that can visit the garden is so unique; it hardly seems to be a bird at all. This special avian animal is the hummingbird, and there are things we can do to attract more of these miniature beauties to the garden.

With quickly beating wings and flashing colors, hummingbirds are probably the closest thing to real garden fairies any of us will ever see. Although just one species lives in the east, it’s pretty common and can occur in any garden close enough to woodlands or other natural vegetation. Out west, there are more species, especially in the deserts and mountain forests of southern Arizona and New Mexico. However, no matter where a garden happens to be situated, there are certain things we can do to bring more of these feathered dynamos into the backyard. These are a few tips to see more hummingbirds in the garden:

Red decor: Since hummingbirds feed on brightly colored flowers, they are often attracted to bright red decor. They will also check out orange, or yellow decor in search of nectar. Put out a statue or two of a gnome, and we might see a hummingbird come to investigate. As soon as it realizes that it cannot feed from that garden gnome or other colorful sculpture, it will leave but we might be able to keep it around with other aspects of the garden.

Outdoor garden fountains: Just about every small bird is attracted to water, including hummingbirds. Since they are so small, they will probably wait until other birds have left, but once they see their chance, hummingbirds will come in and bathe. They do so by hovering and dipping into the water as well as sitting on a surface that is washed with a very shallow stream of water. This is why although they will come to classic fountains like the Lovers Under Umbrella Sculptural Fountain, hummingbirds seem to prefer ceramic fountains like the Burnt Umbra Ceramic Jar Garden Fountain, or the Ceramic Rippling Jar Garden Fountain.

Planters: While hummingbirds love to visit feeders with sugar water, they also love feeding from a variety of small flowers, including sage and honeysuckle. These and other suitable flowering plants can be planted in various parts of the backyard, but they look even better when placed in a sculptural planter. Hang that planter next to the back door and we might be greeted by hummingbirds every time we step into the backyard.

Fun Ideas for New Garden Decor

May is that beautiful transition between spring and summer that also happens to be the perfect occasion to buy new decor for the backyard. However, garden decor doesn’t have to take the same old shape and form as last year. We all have our favorite gnome statues, sculptures, and decorations for the garden, but we can also give the backyard a fresh new look with a few, new, unique additions. This garden season, instead of putting out the same old statues, put a few new items on display to give the backyard a fun, exciting new look.

When picking out new decor, the best place to start is in the garage, attic, or wherever we keep our old decor. Before getting something new, we need to assess what we already have and see where we could make some changes. Get all of the old decor out of storage and see which statues still belong in the backyard, and which ones might be better off in a yard sale. After doing that, pick out the ones you still want to display, keeping in mind that we want to have enough room for at least two or three new sculptures.

Once we have last year’s garden decor in front of us, we can also count how many animal garden statues we have, how many gnomes are there, and if we have enough angel sculptures for this year’s backyard. This assessment will give us a good idea of what to get for this year’s garden and save a lot of time when shopping for new decor. If we don’t have any animal garden sculptures, that would be a good place to start, and there are a wide variety of animal statues to choose from. Fun animal statues can come in the form of flying squirrels, sculptures of monkeys, and even dancing ducks! Dramatic sculptures of animals that remind us of the wild and beautiful side of nature are also possible and demonstrated with depictions of bears, forest animals, and detailed statues of tigers and other big cats.

When taking animal statues into consideration, this might also be the year to add a bronze animal sculpture to our collection of garden decor. A beautiful bronze lends a classic, high quality look to any garden or backyard, and can take the form of a galloping horse, frog, other animals, or even children at play. No matter which bronze we choose, it will give the backyard a fantastic, new look.

Those of us who love gnomes know that we can never have enough, especially when we can choose among high quality, creative gnome sculptures that are painted by hand with bright, enchanting colors. Such gnomes statues can take a variety of forms, including the fun Ringing His Chimes Garden Gnome Statue, and the easy-going Beach Comber Gnome Dude Garden Statue. Some gnomes also make for interesting functional decor, one such example being Stormy the Gnome Gutter Guardian Downspout Statue.

Of course, we can also go for unique, extraordinary decor that will leave a long-lasting impression on every neighbor and garden guest. To do that, look no further than a garden decorated with sculptures of an alien or two, a life-like dinosaur, and a bigfoot statue.
