Fountain How-To Series: Part 6 – Accessorizing Your Fountain

Accessorizing Your Design Toscano Garden Fountain

There is no life without water; no matter where you live or travel water features will always be an important destination or attraction. The luminous flash of sun off water draws the eye, and the sound of waves and quiet splashing enriches your spirit and encourages peace of mind.

Accessorize your Design Toscano fountain by adding that special sculpture or piece of garden furniture that will make your garden and fountain outstanding. Take advantage of the available space, whether it is in the front, side, or backyard. Our classic outdoor Garden Furniture provides a dramatic focal point destined to become the gathering spot in any garden.

Are you crazy for a smaller fountain design but worried it will hidden by plantings? Give it a lift! Use our Design Toscano pedestals and plinths to raise the level. One family had the idea to put their tiki fountain on top of the Kanaloa Grand Tiki (DB383038) sculptural table. Surround with theme related garden statues and metal sculptures. The ceramic urn fountains look especially nice on raised Plinths or Columns.

Extend the space around your Design Toscano fountain and make it into your own special spot. Use elements that fit in with the fountain theme; for example, if you have our Earth Witness Buddha Fountain (QN164001), use Asian style decorations such as live or dried bamboo, a screen, a Design Toscano Pagoda Lantern Statue (NG999870) or tall grasses.

A flat or arched trellis forms a wonderful background for any fountain, you can train a vine, clematis or climbing rose bush to grow up and along an arch.

Craft a pleasing space to sit and relax or meditate; include a Design Toscano Roundabout Steel Garden Tree Bench (ZJ12063) or a couple of Design Toscano metal garden chairs, maybe a sculptural thematic side table or two and finally few Animal Garden Statues.

Blend a naturalistic fountain like our Cascading Bamboo Fountain (KY1712) into the garden landscape by building up around it with rocks that look similar, in the sun, plant daylilies, hostas, or flowering annuals in a pot and tuck them in the rocks. In the shade, blend into the woods by adding ferns and river rocks.

To attract butterflies plant orange milkweed for Monarchs, or lantana for the black and white striped Zebra Heliconian butterfly, and they will drink from your fountain.

Incorporate your favorite animals, one customer had several black bears garden statues, including Bashful Bear Cubs (KY1879), around a Grizzly Gulch Black Bear Sculptural Fountain (SH380324) amid a few flowering bushes.

For more drama you can add spotlights aimed at your Design Toscano fountain, novelty solar lights staked in the ground, or strings of solar lights on a trellis or strung through the trees.

The ideas are endless and so are the options for fountains – from fun to classic – that are offered by Design Toscano along with garden sculptures, furniture and wall décor.

Let us know what you’ve come up with – we’d love to hear your ideas!
